DMP SHALLOW WELL PROGRAM
KD.1 was awarded the contract to conduct the Land Access and Stakeholder management services for the Shallow Well Drilling Program that is associated with the South West Hub research program and a continuation of the extensive research being carried out in the area by DMP in association with Geoscience Australia, Curtin University and UWA and linked to the National research effort with regard to Carbon Capture and Storage.
The program consists of drilling Stratagrahic wells at three selected sites to gather core samples from the various strata that have been identified by the previous 3D
Curtin University aslo conducted a smal 3D Seismic Survey in and area to act as a training ground for students and staff whilst gathering information on the shallow formations down to approximately 1,000 metres.
DMP has leased the well site area from Landholders for a 3 year period and will provide access to the sites to both Curtin University and UWA as well as Geoscience Australia for ongoing scientific monitoring of the strata and well as Passive Seismic monitoring.
SOUTHWEST HUB SEISMIC SURVEY KD.1 was awarded the contract to provide Land Access and Stakeholder management services for this extensive Project.
The initial contract was to provide the services to the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) for a 3D Seismic Survey of some 115 square kilometres within the Shires of Waroona and Harvey in the states south west.
The survey area covered approximately 125 landholders as well as statutory and government bodies with infrastructure and assets in the survey area. The survey was to commence in early 2013, however was postponed to late 2013 / early 2014.
The Survey was completed in February / March 2014. KD.1 is nearing the completion of all landholder close outs.
In July 2014, KD.1 was again successful in being awarded the contract for provision of land access and associated services to DMP for the next phase of the project.
